Carly Beth and the Nightmares

When I was growing up, I would usually sit around and beg my mom and dad to take me to rent movies, and whenever we would get to the movie store, I'd run off straight to the horror section with all the VHS covers staring back at me, and i would look in amazement and drool over the artwork, covered in beasts and half naked women split open by a nightstalker. Horror has always fascinated me, even as a little dude. But when I got worn out from watching heads explode and monsters tearing teens apart in their basement, I'd read some amazing books called GOOSEBUMPS. It was a little lighter, and their wasn't really much gore or violence, it was mostly psychological, but you could easily relate to the situations the characters would be in, since most of the time, they were almost the same age as you. You could picture yourself doing some of the mischievous things they'd do. It was, and still is amazing.

The first one I ever got my claws on, was called THE HAUNTED MASK. And I immediately fell in love with the idea of a mask that completely tranformed you into a careless fiend in the night full of madness, and all you wanted to do was scare the living shit out of other kids. The idea of a mask controlling your, and turning you into something you weren't, fascinated me. I read it over and over again, and with the little money I had, got my hands on more of the books, and pretty soon, I had them all. Most of them are amazing, but the HAUNTED MASK still holds true as one of the funnest, and imaginative halloween adventure books of all time in my opinion. If you're 30 years old (or older) and you still haven't read it, DO SO, NOW. WHO cares if you're a dad, READ IT, then read it to your kids. Their in for a SCARE!

The point of this post is not only to share my love for this, and tell you why you should check it out if you somehow magically haven't yet, but to also share my tribute painting, CARLY BETH'S NIGHTMARE! I was asked by a friend to do my rendition of the book cover (which is below) and of course, I yelled FUCK YEA through facebook chat. This was so much fun, and hope I did the cover justice.

We've Got Issues - Color Ink Book group show

Sometimes, no matter how well you pack something and think it is safe from damage, UPS or Fedex will still manage to fuck the whole thing up. I recently sent off a drawing to WWA Gallery to be in the Color Ink Book show. It arrived, but the frame was shattered, and the glass scraped the artwork, so it wasn't very presentable. Luckily, i found out in time, I just overnighted a few more drawings back to California that are packed even MORE securely than the last. Wish them luck! Still super excited to be a part of this show.

Thanks to the amazing guys at Trick Or Treat Studios, I can now be a sewer dwelling creep anytime I want. They sure now how to make a beautiful monster, and allow your face to fit inside of it perfectly.

Flamingo hearts

We all know that Flamingo's are super tall and skinny, and bright pink, and they look sorta surreal in person, because their legs are almost as small as a twig. I have always loved drawing them or painting them because of the shape of their anatomy and lengthy body parts. It's super fun!
I did a drawing for a friends band a few years back, and it got an amazing response, and they released it as shirts, and someone even got a full sleeve tattoo of it, which is insane! (photo below)
Fast forward to recently, I decided to share the painting online over on Instagram (@cavitycolors)and on facebook, and i received tons of messages asking if they could own it, or something like it. And since I do not have the original art anymore, The only thing I could do was release a print! Which is why I am writing this blog! You can finally OWN a copy of the Flamingo Friends!

The October Films...

YAY!!!


Myself and good friend (and amazing filmmaker) Armard Andrews, met today to discuss details for an awesome little video project we are putting together, which will be released in October, to coincide with all of the products CAVITYCOLORS is releasing.

After wandering around in the woods and getting attacked by flying insects and hanging out with alligators, we settled on a pretty cool location and concept for the video series, which is a neighborhood in South Carolina that already looks like a movie set! and it's free! what more could you ask for?

I don't want to say TOO much yet about the concept, but the plan is to release 4 different videos, which are all intertwined with eachother, and contain some really fun and probably whatever bizarre shit we come up with. Armard has lots of great ideas, and I think about weird shit all the time, so I can't wait to see what the outcome is.

ALSO, since October is coming up, if you know or follow me, you know that is my FAVORITE time of the year. All the ghouls and weirdos that are hiding in the sewers and the woods decide to roam like maniacs in the moonlight, which, makes me SMILE! My point is, there's a TON of new stuff coming out in October, New shirts, prints, and other surprises that might make you smile or (eye)scream!

CAVITIES and CANDY

And so it begins.

In the spirit of one of my favorite months coming up, there will be a ton of new exclusive releases, prints, and delicious surprises. Time to plan for what's to come.

I am currently in the midst of a million projects, including working on my clothing brand, commissions, and some other fun personal projects, including a series I am calling "VICTIMS OF HORROR" - and will be exactly what it sounds like, DRAWINGS AND PAINTING OF VICTIMS FROM HORROR movies AND other stuff that I maybe thought was funny, gross, or just fucked up. THis may be my darkest series of work yet, but it's all about having fun, so, that's what I am doing. Sort of like Pat Bateman was just HAVING FUN.

Klown and Kandy

Do you remember Killer Klowns From Outerspace? If you like cheesy horror movies and you like laughing, then you've probably seen this at least ONCE, or a like me, a billion times. basic plot: Klowns from outerspace take over a town, stuff vicitims inside Cotton Candy Cocoons and Bubbles, and shoot guns with popcorn bullets. Sound fun? Well, IT IS!

I was always fascinated and amazed at how they stuck their victims inside cocoons made of fluffy, soft cotton candy, and it liquefied their skin and preserved them, then they drink the guts out with a straw. So, I decided to dedicate a small series of prints to these victims who died a deliciously sweet death at the hands of the KLOWNS.

This is the first of 5 SUPER LIMITED cotton candy cocoon prints I am releasing. This is PRINT #1 in the series. These will be only available at http://cavitycolors.com So be sure and snag one quickly, as there's only 20 prints in this series. I will be doing 4 more based around this concept.

Atlanta friends, I have a really huge panel painting in this show THIS SATURDAY at ABV GALLERY in Atl. Every piece in the show was a collaborative effort, so the work is gonna be insane. I worked with my friend and fellow artist Erik Russell on probably one of the largest, and funnest paintings we've both ever had the pleasure of working on. Can't wait to reveal our piece for it. It's (TERROR)ific. Hope to see you there!
